The Colca Canyon is the second deepest canyon in the world. To get there you have to go high into the Andes mountains, about 5000 m, which makes you feel awful. The locals chew on coca leaves the help with the altitude sickness. On our way there we had lunch and I ate alpaca! We visited the canyon on our second day and trekked across a tiny part of the canyon, where we observed huge condors flying in the thermals. We also went to a hot springs and soaked in the sulfur waters.
