Today we went to a waterfall called La Fortuna waterfall. We called a taxi and it took us up to the top of the hill. When we tried to pay, we realized we did not have enough Costa Rican money, so we went BACK to the hostel and then BACK to the waterfall! We climbed down a lot of steps to get to the bottom of the waterfall and found out it was very cold water! It was around 60 degrees, so I had to just jump in. Once we all got in, it slowly felt warmer, but not that warm. After we’d had enough of the cold, we went down stream and ate some snacks. Then I tried to go in again and I could not even get past my ankles. When it was time to leave, we had to walk back up all of those stairs.

The next day my dad rented a motorcycle and I rode on the back. My mom got a scooter that she tipped over immediately 🤭. We rode them to the Arenal volcano, where we hiked on the lava from when it erupted in 2008. On the trail, there was a 700 year old tree, and it was huge. After that, we rode to the thermal river heated by the volcano. It looked like a normal, small river, but the water was 85 to 90 degrees! We got to soak in the hot river in pools made from the river rocks! My mom and I found one spot in front of a log that gave you the perfect back massage! The last day we were there, we went to a fancy hotel and it had lots of natural heated pools from the volcano. There were also a lot of fun water slides.

I( would have loved to see La Fortuna Waterfall, but I would not have gone in the water. On the other hand, I could have spent hours in the hot water river pools, especially if I found a spot that gave a message. Sounds perfect!

Hi, Ella,
I would love to be able to put my cold toes in that warm water. It would not only look beautiful , but feel so good! Wish we were there with you.
