I have been lucky to have the opportunity to travel often. My extended family travels to PA to go camping every year and I have also enjoyed backpacking. Another type of travel that I have done is going overseas to see family and I have even enjoyed staying at a resort. I had fun doing these different types of travel.

Every 4th of July I go camping in Pennsylvania for a family reunion. We are there for 4 days. We all bring tents and we camp out. We usually have 30 to 40 people show up and camp in tents, but there is a big hill on the campground so the old people have to stay in cabins on top of the hill. There is a pool that we go in every day. We also have a river right near the tents so this year my mom, dad, uncle, cousin, and his friend went out on canoes. We came across a rope swing so we went on that a bunch of times. Then we all raced the canoes back to the campsite.

Twice we tried to go backpacking on the Appalachian trail, but we did not finish the hike that we had planned. Backpacking is hard because we carry everything on our back like food, clothes, shoes, and pots and a mini stove to cook our food in. The first time my mom pulled a muscle on her leg, so we had to cancel the rest of the trip. The second time we brought my friend Gwen, and on the second day she got the flu so we had to bring her back down the mountain. Maybe we can try again sometime.

I have gone overseas to visit family, like when we went to Portugal and saw my grandma’s family and stayed in the house where she grew up. I had so much fun! We went to the coast and then we went to the mountains. We even went to Spain for a day. We went to Nazare, which has the biggest waves in the world. And we went to the highest point in Portugal. I can’t wait to go back.

The last way I traveled was when I went to Belize and we stayed in a resort called Belizean Shores. We took out a paddleboard and kayak and looked at all the fish and coral. We went snorkeling which was soooooo cool. My dad and I rented a jetski and I got to drive it. The water was so clear and teal. The resort had a big water trampoline but it was not very bouncy. When we were going back to the airport we had to take a boat. It was fun at the beginning of the ride but got very boring at the end.

In conclusion I have enjoyed camping, backpacking, traveling to Portugal to see family, and staying at a resort. I like to travel in many different ways and to many different places.
